The short answer
TikTok Shop Academy (US) marked four seller courses as updated on Oct 16, 2026: LIVE Auction, How to Automate Invitations, Buy with Confidence and the Guide to Seller Security Center (SSC), plus a new top policy, Electronic Products Requirements. For LIVE sellers, the two that matter most are LIVE Auction, which now lists 3- and 5-second countdowns and documents Video Receipts, LIVE Event product binding, shopper pre-authorization and Surprise Sets, and Automate Invitations, a gradual-rollout tool that recruits creators for you but supports shoppable video only, not LIVE.
Buy with Confidence is an optional, seller-paid 1.8% protection program for eligible consumer electronics. The Seller Security Center gives select sellers risk alerts and a buyer blocklist that also stops blocked buyers from bidding in your auctions. The electronics and jewelry pages spell out the documents needed to list in those categories, which both appear in the LIVE Auction category table. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday on TikTok Shop running Nov 11 to 30 (see our Oct 15 post), these are the pages to read before you plan holiday LIVE.

LIVE Auction · page dated 10/16/2026
LIVE Auction feature guide
The LIVE Auction guide describes auctions as an interactive shopping feature that lets sellers and creators engage audiences through real-time bidding during LIVE sessions. It is the setup manual; the separate Requirements & Guidelines policy (still dated 10/13/2026, summarized in our Oct 14 post) sets the rules.
Eligibility, per the guide
- Sellers: AHR above 150, good standing with no active restrictions, and no recent serious product, service, IP or other violations.
- Creators: CHR above 150, no active LIVE ban or temporary suspension, no recent serious violations, and a linked store that meets the seller requirements.
- Delegating LIVE to a creator, host or LIVE service provider does not transfer the seller's responsibility for products and orders.
Three ways to add auction products
- Temporary listing from the LIVE console (or the Shop icon in the app). Moderation typically takes under 2 minutes, the listing does not sync to your store or Shopify, and it is removed when the LIVE ends. Avoid words like “Bid” or “Auction” in the product name or it will not pass review. Up to 300 variants per temporary listing.
- Seller Center auction product: choose “Fixed price and auction” under selling method (minimum starting bid $1). Review takes longer, but approved products can be reused in any LIVE. Auction products are not searchable in your Shop; pre-order, made-to-order and back-order products cannot be converted.
- Bulk upload through the category template, marking rows as auction products.
Running the auction
- Countdowns of 3s, 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 30s, 60s and 120s. The guide says 3 and 5 seconds are newly added options and are “effective at driving traffic.”
- Extend Auction resets the clock to a preset time if a bid lands at the last second; Sudden Death does not. Once you start an auction it has to run its course.
- Pin the auction product card continuously, because viewers who join mid-auction and see nothing pinned tend to leave.
- Low latency unlocks automatically for sellers who use LIVE Auction consistently, but only on the TikTok app or TT LiveStudio on Windows. TT LiveStudio on Mac is listed as a future release, and third-party OBS is not supported.
- The bid limit is $43,500 (pre-tax) for local sellers. Shoppers need an active card on file before bidding.
Features documented on the page
- LIVE Event binding: schedule a LIVE Event and bind Buy Now products, existing auction products or new temporary auction listings ahead of time. Adding any e-commerce product changes the event type to E-commerce.
- Video Receipt: a timestamped clip from your LIVE is linked to auctioned orders as proof of the item sold. Buyer and seller can view it for up to 30 days, from Ready to Ship until Completed, for orders created after Feb 4, 2026. It cannot be downloaded.
- Auction Shopper Verification: an optional pre-authorization some shoppers must complete before their first bid. It is off by default, resets after each LIVE, is not a charge, and lets you exempt up to 10 regular shoppers (PC LIVE Console only).
- Surprise Set: available to a select group of sellers in a gradual rollout. Up to 500 units per item, maximum bid $5,000 per Surprise Set item, one active set at a time, and up to 10 sets created at once.
- Blocking and fulfillment: block users from the PC console activity feed or search (up to 5,000), enable combined shipping in Fulfillment settings, and filter orders by LIVE session from the past 7 days.
One point to check against the policy: the guide's FAQ says auction items are not all final sale and follow their category's return and refund rules, while the Requirements & Guidelines policy says LIVE auction orders generally do not support change-of-mind returns but remain covered for non-receipt, damage, defects, missing items or mismatches, with evidence due within 14 days of delivery. Read both before you tell bidders anything about returns.
Where LIVE Auction meets the affiliate program
Auctions with creators
The LIVE Auction guide has a section on sending collaboration invites for auction products. Per the page:
- Choose Shoppable LIVE as the content type, then check LIVE auction only. The content type cannot be changed after sending.
- Only pre-created auction products can be added. Auction products created through temporary listing cannot go in a creator invite.
- Commission can be edited after sending, but only increased.
- Samples can be auto-approved or reviewed manually.
- Only creators who meet the auction requirements can be selected, up to 50 per invite, and each product-creator pair can sit in only one auction invite at a time.
The policy adds the bar for this: to partner with affiliate creators on auction products, a seller needs a Shop Performance Score of 3.5 or more and an AHR of 200 or more, and affiliate creators need a Promotion Performance Score above 3.5.
Get Live's read: if you plan to run auctions with outside hosts during BFCM, build your auction products in Seller Center now rather than as temporary listings, because only those can be put in a creator invite. Set the starting commission carefully, since you can raise it later but not lower it.

How to Automate Invitations
Automate Invitations is, in the guide's words, “a way to reach creators at scale without inviting each one yourself.” You set a goal, add products and describe the creators you want; TikTok Shop matches your products to creators and invites them on your behalf for the whole recruiting period. Invitations that are not accepted are withdrawn and resent to other matching creators.
Eligibility and limits, per the guide
- Gradual rollout. If you do not see it in Seller Center, it is not available for your account yet.
- Shoppable video only. For livestream, flat fee or LIVE Countdown Bidding, use a Target Collaboration instead.
- Shared quota. Recruitments draw from the same outreach usage as Target Collaborations, shown as Remaining outreach usage on the Collaborations page.
- Up to 5 products per recruitment, each with its own commission rate and sample quantity. You do not pick the creators.
Setting one up
- Seller Center > Collaborations > Target collaborations > Invite to collaborate > Automate Invitations.
- Goal: Boost sales, More views and engagement, or Get high quality content.
- The recruiting period must end at least 7 days out, and the collaboration must stay valid at least 30 days after that.
- Invitation text up to 500 characters. The creator preference is a description in your own words; TikTok calls it a preference, not a filter.
- Commission changes apply to every invitation for that product, including ones already sent. Sample quantity can go up but never down, and is locked in the last 7 days.
Samples on autopilot
Each sample request arrives with a suggested decision. You have three days to decide yourself; otherwise the suggestion is applied. For recruitments with more than 1,000 invited creators, TikTok strongly recommends an overall sample approval rate of at least 30% at close, but the guide says it is not a requirement and there is currently no penalty below it. You can cancel freely in the first three days.
Get Live's read: this is a video tool, and it shares a quota with the hand-picked invites you would send to LIVE hosts. If LIVE is your main channel, decide how much of your outreach allowance automation is allowed to use before you switch it on, and keep a manual Target Collaboration for your LIVE and auction creators. Review sample requests yourself inside the three-day window so the suggested decisions do not set your sample spend for you. More on running the program is in our creator affiliate program guide.

Buy with Confidence
Buy with Confidence is “an optional, seller-paid protection program for eligible consumer electronics.” Per the guide:
- Cost: Seller Center lists a service fee of 1.8% of item value for eligible protected items, paid by the seller and deducted through settlement when protection is activated under the program rules.
- Coverage: 1 year from delivery, including accidental damage from handling from Day 1 and eligible mechanical and electrical breakdown after the manufacturer's warranty expires. Approved claims are capped at the item value (purchase price excluding tax).
- Who handles claims: a third-party provider. TikTok Shop does not provide the protection service.
- Who can join: it is optional and available only to invited or eligible sellers; products must meet price, order and product-type rules, and the page lists eligible categories from car electronics to phones, wearables, appliances and electric toys.
- Where: Logistics > Warehouse & Shipping > Fulfillment Settings > Edit Shipping Protection Settings. You can protect all eligible products or pick specific ones, change scope, view activity, or withdraw.
- Eligible products show a Buy with Confidence badge. Where seller-paid protection applies, the buyer-paid electronics protection offer is not shown. Misrepresenting eligibility or interfering with claims can mean suspension or removal from the program.
Get Live's read: for an electronics seller on LIVE, a badge that says the item is protected for a year at no cost to the buyer is a talking point a host can use, but only for products that actually show it. Run the 1.8% against each SKU's margin first, and do not have hosts describe coverage beyond what the program terms say.
Account Health · page dated 10/16/2026
Seller Security Center
The Guide to Seller Security Center (SSC) says the feature “is only available to select sellers and appears in Seller Center (Account Health → Security Center).” It has three parts:
- Platform Security Alerts: orders and refund requests TikTok flags as higher risk. You can cancel a flagged order or reject a flagged refund, and once processed any associated SPS penalties are removed. A Protected by TikTok tab logs fraud the platform intercepted for you.
- Report Malicious Behavior: an early pilot for a limited number of sellers. Report a malicious review, refund or order once, with evidence; reviews typically take 2 to 3 business days, and confirmed cases have metric penalties waived and malicious reviews removed. Keep fulfilling orders while a report is pending.
- Malicious Buyer Blocking: block a buyer for 90 days or permanently, by exact username or order ID, optionally including linked accounts. Blocked buyers cannot order from your shop or bid in your LIVE auctions, but can still message about and request refunds on past orders. Daily and cumulative quotas vary by account.
The guide warns that false, misleading or mass unverified reports are feature abuse: a first violation suspends the features, typically from 48 hours, and repeat or severe cases can revoke them permanently. For auction sellers, the blocklist sits alongside the in-LIVE blocking tools described in the LIVE Auction guide.

Electronics and jewelry category rules
Electronic Products Requirements
Electronic Products Requirements says sellers “may need to submit documentation through the Qualification Center,” and that the documents depend on the seller's role:
- Manufacturers, importers and repackers: a Certificate of Compliance or Conformity issued within the last 2 years that matches the category, describes the product, lists the applicable US safety standards and matches the photos, plus a product or packaging image showing an electrical safety marking, an OSHA-recognized NRTL certification mark, and an FCC marking for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi products. No double-stickering; labels must be flat and intact.
- Resellers: a legible manufacturer purchase invoice issued within the last 365 days with the supplier's name and address, plus the same marking images.
- Extra rules: electronic children's products may need a Children's Product Certificate, tracking label and test report; smart earphones and headphones are invite-only with functional, quality, listing and packaging requirements; refurbished electronics follow their own requirements page.
- RF devices: devices that emit radio frequency signals, including drones, routers and connected power inverters, need valid FCC authorization. Declare it with the Radio Frequency Emission & Authorization Status attribute under Product Compliance (FCC ID, SDoC, incidental radiator, or not capable of emitting RF), with responsible-party contact details for SDoC.
- DOE and California Energy Commission rules and California Proposition 65 warnings apply where relevant.
Jewelry Products Requirements
Jewelry Products Requirements is unchanged in date since Oct 13. It requires Country of Origin permanently shown on the product or packaging, gold test reports from listed labs issued within 365 days with a certificate or letter of authenticity, AGS or GIA certification for natural diamonds, IGI or GIA for lab-created, and AGS, GIA, IGI or AGL for ruby, sapphire and emerald. Our Oct 13 post has the full summary.
Why LIVE sellers should care: the LIVE Auction policy says all existing product rules apply to auctions and that restricted or qualification-required products can only be auctioned by sellers who have met the requirements. Its category table lists electronics such as iPhone, iPad and televisions, and pre-owned luxury goods and diamonds, so the documents above come before the auction.
Scope
What we know vs what to check in Seller Center
What the pages state
- Titles and dates on the Academy home, and the eligibility thresholds, steps, limits and fees printed on each page as quoted above.
- Which features the pages themselves describe as gradual rollout, pilot or select-seller only: Automate Invitations, Surprise Set, Seller Security Center, Report Malicious Behavior, and Buy with Confidence (invited or eligible sellers).
What you have to check for your own shop
- Whether Automate Invitations, Seller Security Center, Surprise Set or Buy with Confidence appear in your Seller Center. The pages say access varies.
- Your AHR, SPS and remaining outreach usage, which decide whether you can run auctions, partner with affiliate creators on them, or afford automated recruiting.
- Which of your SKUs are eligible for Buy with Confidence, and the full program terms shown at registration.
- Your Qualification Center status for electronics and jewelry categories.
- Which lines on each page are new. The Academy does not publish change logs.

Seller to-dos this week
- Check your auction eligibility. Look up your AHR (above 150 to auction, 200 or more plus SPS 3.5 to auction with affiliate creators).
- Build reusable auction products. Create them in Seller Center with “Fixed price and auction” and get them approved well before a show; only these can go in a creator invite.
- Test the short countdowns in a normal show before relying on them in a holiday LIVE, and decide when you will use Extend Auction versus Sudden Death.
- Stream from a supported tool (TikTok app or TT LiveStudio on Windows) if you want low latency. Our LIVE setup guide covers the rest of the setup.
- Look for Automate Invitations under Collaborations. If it is there, cap how much shared outreach it can use, and keep LIVE recruiting on Target Collaborations.
- Electronics sellers: open the Buy with Confidence card, model the 1.8% fee per SKU, and fill in the RF emission attribute on every wireless listing.
- Start an evidence habit. Photograph returns on arrival and keep tracking scans and chat logs; the Security Center report flow and SPS appeals both depend on it.
- Jewelry and luxury sellers: confirm certificates match listing photos and test reports are under a year old before auctioning.
Timing detail for the holiday window is in our TikTok Shop holiday prep guide, and shop-run LIVE is covered in the LIVE selling guide.
