What this watch covered
On Oct 9, 2026, Get Live checked US TikTok Shop Seller University (TikTok Shop Academy), For Sellers. Every item in both lists changed since our Oct 8 post. All four Latest policies are intellectual property pages, each marked Updated Oct 9, 2026. Latest courses led with a new guide to combining orders for shipping, followed by three operations pages updated Oct 8. We opened all eight pages before writing this.
This post is for brands selling on TikTok Shop: founders, e-commerce leads, and whoever owns the shop's P&L. The policy half of today's slate decides who is allowed to list a branded product, what happens when a listing is flagged for IP, and how to get it back. The course half is about shipping: how orders get packed together, how warehouses are set up, how LIVE auctions run, and what TikTok's pickup service needs from you before Black Friday. When a brand hires an agency or works with creators, the brand still owns all of this, and several of these pages say so directly.

Yesterday's leaders (VoC, FBT Inbound Requests, What is Collection by TikTok, the Targeted Collaboration Playbook, and Prop 65) are covered in our Oct 8 post and are no longer in the visible top four.
One thread runs through the policy pages: three of the four (all but the appeals page) separate Brand Authorization (your right to sell a brand) from Originality Protection (OP) (protection for original product images), and three of them mention LIVE Auctions or temporary listings. Because there is no change log, we cannot say whether that language is new today.

Requirements for Brand Authorization
The page says brand authorization may be required to list some products that contain registered trademarks, and that listing without it can lead to enforcement such as product removal. For sellers in LIVE Auctions, approved authorization for certain brands is mandatory before listing “Temporary Products” or starting a live session. Requests go through the Qualification Center in Seller Center.
Five ways to apply
- Trademark Owner. The page calls this the first step toward the Official Shop - Brand badge.
- First Level Authorized Seller. Permission directly from the brand owner. For the Official Shop - Brand badge, the Letter of Authorization must grant the exclusive right to represent the brand.
- Second Level Authorized Seller. Permission from a reseller or distributor, with proof that the distributor can authorize others.
- Proof of Purchase. Valid proof that inventory came from a legitimate distributor of the trademark's products.
- Co-Branding and Licensing. Covered in its own guide (below).
Trademark owners
- Enter the USPTO trademark registration number, not a serial or other number.
- A verification code is emailed to the trademark's official contact, typically the attorney on record (found in USPTO TSDR). If that contact is outdated, update it with the USPTO first.
- Enter the code or click the email link within 10 days. You can request a new code only once; after the second code expires, you start a new application.
- Do not apply for trademarks still in “Pending Trademark” status.
Letters of authorization
The letter must name the granting party (with a contact email), the authorized party, the expiry date (or that it is permanent), the brand, the country or region, and a product category matching the trademark's class of goods. For second-level sellers, the issuer of the second-level document should match the party authorized in the first-level document. Uploads should be on the brand owner's letterhead, signed or stamped, in PDF (preferred), PNG, JPG or JPEG, up to 5 MB. For email submissions, the sender's domain must match the rights holder.
Checklist details worth knowing
- The brand name must match exactly across your website, registered trademark, packaging and labels, including capitalization, punctuation and spacing, and be 2–30 characters.
- TikTok Shop may show AI check recommendations during the application; the page says they do not automatically block submission.
- No more than two pending verification requests for the same brand at a time.
- Ask the brand owner for a renewal at least 30 days before an LOA or licensee agreement expires. An expired trademark or LOA means losing authorization, which may lead to takedowns.
- The brand name cannot be changed once approved.
- Approval applies to future listings. Existing listings must be edited, given the brand, and republished.
- Selecting “No brand” for a clearly branded product is strictly prohibited, and auction temporary listings must carry accurate brand information.
- Brands that require authorization are greyed out in the listing dropdown until it is approved.
The FAQ also says the Official Shop badge limits a shop to its own brand's products, and other brands' listings may be removed once the badge is granted. Sellers who have trouble with brand authorization can consider the Official Shop - Wholesaler badge.
Get Live's read: for a founder-led brand, the most common failure points here are paperwork, not policy. The verification email goes to whoever filed your trademark, the approval does not reach old listings until they are republished, and an expired LOA with a retailer or distributor can quietly take listings down. Put the trademark contact and every LOA expiry date on a calendar.

Cobranded Brand Authorization
The page defines cobranding as two or more brands collaborating on a product that carries both brands' identifiers, usually under a license. A seller selling products that feature both its own brand and another brand must apply, and the page says this applies to all sales formats, including Live Auctions. Selling without authorization may result in takedowns.
- Apply in the Qualification Center: Brand Qualification > Add Brand Authorization > Co-Branding and Licensing, only if you hold a license to use another brand's IP.
- Submit a complete cobranding license agreement naming the licensor (the brand granting rights, or its licensing agency), the licensee (your brand), the licensor IP, the expiry date (or tick Permanent), and the product category, which must match the trademark class on the licensor's certificate.
- The document should use the words “licensor,” “licensee” and “license.” The licensor and IP must match the official trademark certificate; the licensee must match your seller registration documents. Licensor IP is checked against USPTO records.
- After approval, list the product under the licensee's brand, not the licensor's.
- Each character or IP needs its own application, though one agreement can be reused across them.
- Resellers of cobranded products must also obtain and submit the licensing agreement; the page suggests asking your supplier.
- If listing images could match an image protected under another seller's Originality Protection, you need separate written authorization from the image rights owner, or the listing may be blocked at the listing stage.
Get Live's read: licensed collaborations and character tie-ins are popular Q4 products. Get the license paperwork into the Qualification Center before the creator content is shot, not after the first sale.

Intellectual Property Policy
The policy applies to any TikTok Shop seller or creator who uploads content, promotes, or sells products. Its key points say sellers must not use third-party trademarks, copyrights, design patents, or other sellers' original product images, including AI-modified copies, without authorization in products, listings, videos, LIVEs, shop names, or avatars.
What it prohibits
- Counterfeits, including showing unauthorized brand names or logos in listings, videos or livestreams, and intentionally blurring or hiding a brand name or logo.
- Trademark infringement, including in a shop name or avatar.
- Copyright infringement, including using another seller's original product image, or an AI-modified version, without written authorization.
- Knockoffs that closely resemble branded products.
- Patent infringement. Utility patent owners can complain by email to e-commerce.ipnotice@tiktok.com with proof of ownership, copies of the patent, the URLs, and a claim chart per patent.
- Rights of publicity, such as implying a famous athlete endorses a product without permission.
Enforcement
Listed actions include removing listings or Shop permissions, suspending accounts, and temporarily or permanently withholding balances or cancelling transactions. For live auctions, repeated violations may lead to tiered restrictions, including temporary or permanent removal of auction and temporary listing privileges. Under OP, a listing that reuses a protected image without authorization is blocked before it publishes, and the seller can appeal through the standard IP workflow.
Reporting, and what TikTok will not act on
Rights owners can report through the IP Protection Center (IPPC) or the IP web form; copyright reports can also go to TikTok's designated agent. Eligible OP sellers get automatic image verification, auto-registered Original Image Assets in IPPC, listing-stage blocking of copycats, and AIGC Infringement complaints for AI-modified copies. The page says TikTok Shop will not act on notices based only on distribution agreements, only on price (including below MAP or MSRP), or on trademarks, patents or designs not protected in the country where the takedown is requested.
Get Live's read: two practical takeaways for brands. First, if resellers are undercutting your MAP, an IP notice is the wrong tool unless there is a real IP violation. Second, the protection for your product photography is OP, not brand authorization, and it needs its own opt-in in IPPC.
Requirements to Appeal IP Violations dated 10/09/2026 · IP Policy appeals section
Appealing IP violations
The appeals page says the documents you need depend on whether you own the IP, have the owner's permission, bought the product legitimately, or believe the violation was a platform error. Each maps to a reason in the “Reason for Appeal” field:
- You own the IP: an IP certificate covering the same IP as the violation, in the name on your TikTok Shop account, not expired. Trademarks and design patents must be US-issued; trademark class must match the product type. Copyright appeals also need images proving ownership.
- You have permission: a letter of authorization signed or stamped by the IP owner, matching official owner and account names, stating the rights granted, covering the US, not expired. For copyrights, a content licensing agreement or a service/contractor agreement can substitute.
- Bought through legitimate channels: an unedited invoice or receipt matching the listed product, from the last 12 months and dated before you listed it. Digital files need commercial-use rights; “personal use” or “small business use” is not accepted.
- Misjudgment by platform: screenshots showing existing brand authorization, or that the flagged IP is not the one you use (side-by-side comparisons, six-view product images for design patents, or the original high-resolution photo with metadata).
You get two chances. The IP Policy sets the windows: the first seller appeal within 30 days of enforcement and the second within 15 days of the first rejection; creators get one appeal within 30 days. Appeals are raised as a ticket in Seller Center, with violation records under Shop Health. Listed rejection reasons are Valid Initial Rejection, Missing Supporting Material, Invalid Supporting Material, and Wrong Document Type. For patent enforcement, the page lists accepted documents including an LOA, commercial invoices, proof of originality, a letter of non-infringement from legal counsel, a complainant retraction, an invalidation order, or a court order. Copyright removals can also be contested with a DMCA counter-notice, which the policy warns may be forwarded to the claimant with your contact details.
Get Live's read: keep a folder per brand with trademark certificates, current LOAs, supplier invoices, and original image files. With two appeals and a 30-day clock, the first submission should be the complete one.

LIVE Auction
LIVE Auction lets eligible sellers and creators run real-time bidding inside a LIVE. As printed, eligibility for sellers is AHR > 150, good standing with no active restrictions, and no recent serious product, service, or IP violations; creators need CHR > 150, no LIVE ban or suspension, and a linked store that qualifies. The page is explicit that delegating LIVE to a creator, host, or LIVE service provider does not transfer the seller's responsibility for authenticity, brand authorizations, accurate listings, shipping, and after-sales.
How auctions are set up
- Temporary listings in LIVE Manager or the app: moderation typically under 2 minutes, removed after the LIVE, and not synced to your Shop, Shopify, or ERP/WMS inventory. Avoid “Bid” or “Auction” in the product name or it will fail review.
- Auction products in Seller Center (minimum $1 starting bid), by toggling an existing product, or by bulk upload. Auction products are not searchable in your Shop; pre-order, made-to-order and back-order products cannot be converted.
- Countdowns of 3s, 5s, 10s, 15s, 20s, 30s, 60s and 120s, with optional Extend Auction or Sudden death. Once started, an auction runs its course.
- Up to 300 variants per temporary listing; units are numbered sequentially across sessions.
- Bid limit of $43,500 (pre-tax) for local sellers; Surprise Sets (limited rollout) cap at $5,000.
- LIVE Events let you bind buy-now products, auction products, and new temporary auction listings to a scheduled LIVE ahead of time.
Trust and fulfillment tools
- Video Receipt: a timestamped clip linked to each auctioned order, visible to buyer and seller for up to 30 days, from Ready to Ship until Completed. Not downloadable.
- Auction Shopper Verification: an optional pre-authorization (not a charge) for some first-time bidders. Off by default, it resets after each LIVE, and up to 10 accounts can be exempted from the PC LIVE Console.
- Block users from the activity feed, search, or chat (up to 5,000).
- Turn on automated order combination for auction buyers; labels for TikTok Shipping and Upgraded TikTok Shipping (including Collection by TikTok) show buyer nickname and username.
- Creator invites for auctions use Shoppable LIVE with LIVE auction only, pre-created auction products (not temporary listings), up to 50 creators, and commission that can only be raised after sending.
- Auction items follow the category's return and refund rules; they are not automatically final sale.
The page also links the Collectibles, Gambling, and Mystery Boxes policies and warns against offering or soliciting bids outside the bidding process. Some steps (for example the LIVE Event bag-merge cases) are shown as screenshots we could not read as text. More on running LIVE in our LIVE selling guide.

Combining orders for shipping (new)
The new guide explains how multiple orders from one buyer can ship in one package. It covers Seller Center orders only; for FBT, the platform combines orders as needed.
- Who qualifies: same shop, warehouse, buyer, shipping address, and shipping service, with the service able to carry the combined package. Different warehouses or fulfillment methods cannot combine.
- System recommendations compare cost. The system recommends whichever is cheaper, combined or separate, so it does not always pick the fewest packages.
- Manual combination in Orders > Manage Orders > Package Shipments ignores your recommendation rules but keeps the basic conditions and service limits, up to 200 items per package. Undo or split before the package reaches “Awaiting Collection.”
- Rules live in Logistics > Warehouse & Shipping > Fulfillment settings > Order Combination Rules: cross-channel and cross-LIVE session combining, up to five category groups, an item cap up to 200, and weight and dimension limits. The stricter of your limits and the carrier's applies. Updated rules can reach existing orders only if labels are not yet bought.
- If you fulfill through an ERP, its rules govern; Seller Center settings do not override it.
- Turning off the buyer's combined-shipping discount does not stop recommendations.
The page's worked example uses hypothetical rates to show that overstating weight can make separate packages look cheaper. Its warning runs both ways: overstated dimensions and weight block combinations, but understating them to force a combination can lead to extra charges, invalid labels, carrier rejection, or delivery issues. For LIVE sellers, it suggests waiting until the session ends to confirm combinations, notes that orders arriving after a label is bought are not added automatically, and says to check the package dimensions entered on LIVE temporary listings. Recommendations do not combine orders with different hazardous-material categories.
Get Live's read: shipping cost on LIVE nights is usually a data problem. Audit product weights and dimensions now, especially on bundles and temporary listings.

US Warehouse Management
- Most sellers can add up to 20 pickup warehouses; eligible whitelisted sellers up to 80. Multiple return warehouses are allowed.
- If no shipping option is chosen for a new warehouse, TikTok Shipping is the default.
- Holiday Mode sets a warehouse's inventory to 0 for the chosen period.
- Deactivating a pickup warehouse cannot be undone. It needs another active pickup warehouse, and no linked products, available inventory, active orders, or reserved stock. Inventory left in a deactivated warehouse is no longer sellable.
- If the platform deactivates an Amazon MCF warehouse, linked products are unlinked and its inventory is set to 0.
- The last return warehouse cannot be deleted.
The page adds a Warehouse accuracy improvements banner that flags unlisted warehouse addresses (locations TikTok Shop detects you shipping from that are not in Seller Center) and mismatched product-warehouse addresses. TikTok Shop assigns each order a warehouse by proximity and inventory, and the page asks sellers to ship from that warehouse, keep SKU-to-warehouse mapping current (via ERP sync if you use one), and says this can improve 3-day delivery coverage and conversion.

Black Friday CBT shipping prep
For brands on Collection by TikTok (CBT) pickup, which we covered in our Oct 8 post, this guide is a dated to-do list:
- Oct 15 to Oct 20: share expected shipment volume and pickup needs with the CBT team, and request pallets or Gaylords. During the promotion, the pickup team will not deliver pallets or Gaylords on demand.
- Include regular and expected Black Friday package volume, peak dates and any major campaigns or long LIVE events, whether you need extra pickups or larger vehicles, and your warehouse ID, address and contact.
- At least 5 business days' notice for any warehouse relocation or address change, with the new address, contact, and the vehicle type that can reach the site.
- Keep the warehouse recorded in the system accurate; mismatches can cause cross-region shipping and pickup failure.
- Have a backup printer, test label print quality and barcode scans, and stock labels, cartons, poly bags, tape, and shrink wrap.
- Keep normal weekend shipping during Black Friday if possible.
The page says late or last-minute requests may need extra review and resource availability cannot be guaranteed. Its volume figures (500 a day regular, 1,200 a day at peak, 11/27 to 11/30) are an example of the format to send, not a forecast. Our holiday prep guide covers the rest of the Q4 calendar.
Scope
What this post does and does not say
- It reports the eight pages as we opened them on Oct 9, 2026.
- It does not say which lines changed on any page. None has a change log, and the hub labels seven as updates.
- It does not describe screenshot-only steps that did not load as readable text.
- It does not say any shop qualifies for LIVE Auction, Originality Protection, CBT, or an Official Shop badge, and includes no results or stats.
- Get Live is not affiliated with TikTok, and nothing here is legal advice on trademarks, licensing, or DMCA.
Get Live's suggestions
This week's checklist
- Confirm who receives USPTO email for your trademark, and that the address is current.
- List every LOA and license with its expiry date; request renewals 30 days ahead.
- Republish older listings after a new brand approval; check none is set to “No brand.”
- Licensed or collab products: file cobranding authorization per IP before launch.
- Check whether Originality Protection is available to your shop and whether to opt in through IPPC.
- Build an appeals folder: certificates, LOAs, invoices, original image files.
- Before auction LIVEs: brand authorization approved, product names without “Bid” or “Auction,” combined shipping on.
- Audit product weight and dimensions, and review Order Combination Rules or your ERP's.
- Clear any warehouse accuracy banner in Seller Center.
- CBT shippers: send Black Friday volume and pallet requests between Oct 15 and Oct 20.
Operating calendar
How Get Live uses this
Get Live runs TikTok Shop for brands, including the catalog, creator programs, and LIVE. Creators are how product gets sold; the brand's authorizations, shop health, inventory, and margins are what we manage. As the LIVE Auction page puts it, handing LIVE to a creator or service provider does not hand over the seller's responsibility, so we read Seller University to turn each rule into a dated task with an owner. Our TikTok Shop management guide shows the full operating surface. If you would rather have a team handle this for your shop, see the TikTok Shop agency page or get in touch at getlive.ai.
